Some 1,252 health workers in the Davao Region are infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health office in the region said on Friday.
“During the pandemic naman, sila din talaga ‘yung nagdu-duty sa hospital, clearing the Covid-19 even mga suspect pa lang po, probable, inaalagaan na po nila (During the pandemic, they are really the ones on duty in the hospitals, clearing the Covid-19 even for those suspected, or probable, they take of those patients),” DOH Region 11 Director Annabelle Yumang said at the Laging Handa public briefing.
She added that compensation or benefits have been extended to families of frontliners who died from Covid-19, and other forms of compensation have been given to other health workers with mild to moderate cases of the virus.
The national government earlier announced the sending of a 25-person medical team to Davao City to help President Rodrigo Duterte’s home city to address cases of Covid-19 infections there.
The reinforcement team is comprised of six doctors, six nurses, and 13 nursing staff. SOVEREIGNPH
