An official of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) slammed Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairperson Chel Diokno for playing deaf to testimonies that certain party-list groups are allies of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) chief, Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade, Jr., the spokesperson of the NTF ELCAC, was referring to Diokno’s claim that President Rodrigo Duterte’s red-tagging claims against Bayan Muna Party-list Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate are “baseless and malicious.”
Parlade said FLAG and Diokno did not pay attention to the testimonies of former rebels in the Senate hearing who consistently identified party-list members as affiliates and allies of the CPP-NPA.
“Chel Diokno and Rep. Carlos Zarate speak the same language about red-tagging, saying that it is baseless and irresponsible. We just had the Senate inquiry on this issue. How can these people be so deaf and blind (to) what the former rebels who attended the Senate inquiry were saying? They dropped tons of bombs in that hearing and they chose not to hear them? I guess it’s called selective hearing,” said Parlade.
He added that former NPA members risked their lives and their families for coming up with their exposè during the Senate hearing where they all took an oath, to tell the truth. SOVEREIGNPH
