Soccsksargen was hit by a magnitude 6.1 earthquake on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The agency’s initial earthquake bulletin showed the tremor hit 11 kilometers northeast of Alabel, Sarangani at 7:22 a.m. The tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 54 kilometers.
Based on information gathered by the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences, the earthquake had magnitude of 6.2 and a depth of 10 only kilometers.
The tremor was also felt in the following areas with corresponding intensities: Intensity V in General Santos City; Intensity IV in Kiamba, Sarangani, Tupi and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; and Intensity III in Alabel, Sarangani and Kidapawan City
