Four suspected drug personalities were killed in a buy-bust operation that also yielded some 40 kilos of shabu worth P272 million in Taguig City early on Monday.

In a press briefing in Camp Crame, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said the suspects, identified as Christopher Ocarol and Allan Catalan, and two still unidentified suspects were slain during the operation along C6 Road in Barangay Napindan in Taguig City around 5:35 a.m. on Monday.

Police officers also recovered several firearms and ammunition from the suspects.

Sinas said the suspects are “notable drug lords in Central Visayas” and are former detainees of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) over drug charges but were released in 2015 after the dismissal of their case before the Court of Appeals.

“They were the source of voluminous shipments of illegal drugs in Central Visayas (way back early 2000),” he told reporters.

He said after the release of the two suspects, they maintained their contacts with the “Chinese” drug lords inside the NBP and continued their operation particularly in supplying illegal drugs to Central Visayas from Metro Manila.

“To avoid detection from the authorities in Central Visayas, the duo decided to hide in Metro Manila and transact or monitor their illicit activities in Central Visayas. They started shipping in small quantities until they were able to ship 50 kilos at a time,” said Sinas.

“With their established large network in the island of Cebu, the suspects were able to ship the same volume on a weekly basis,” he added.

Sinas said the modus of the group is to place illegal drugs in a vehicle and leave it in a mall for pick-up of the receiver.

The said operation is a follow-up on two other drug busts in Southern Metro Manila where millions worth of illegal drugs were also recovered, the PNP chief said.

Sinas said they are now locating the “warehouse” of the group. SOVEREIGNPH
