Senator Manny Pacquiao’s birthday is getting bashed over photos of his recent birthday bash circulating over social media showing supposed violation of social distancing and health protocols.
The photos shared by the Filipino boxer’s wife Jinkee over social media showed people taking part in the birthday celebration held in General Santos City wearing no face masks and mingling closely.
But Pacquiao said the venue where his birthday celebration was held was enough to accommodate 50 people, he said in a TV interview. He added he required all the guests to take the real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests (RT-PCR), and all of them turned out to be negative.
“There was less than 50 people inside the hall, and they also took swab tests,” he said in a mix of Filipino and English.
He added that the hall could accommodate 300 guests.
Under modified general community quarantine rules, mass gatherings are allowed but limited to a 50 percent of a venue’s seating capacity. General Santos is under MGCQ. SOVEREIGNPH
