A lawmaker said on Monday that if he had his way, the policeman who killed a mother and his son in cold blood be burned alive for his brutal crime.
Former House speaker and current Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez said Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, who killed a mother and his son in Tarlac last Sunday, should be punished in a painful way, or be burned alive.
“Kung ako tatanungin dapat ang parusa doon cremation, hindi bitay. (If you would ask me, Nuezca should be cremated, not by hanging),” the former House leader told reporters during a telephone interview on Tuesday.
Alvarez is a fierce advocate for the return of the death penalty.
“Tingnan mo yung ginawa niya sa mga tao. Nakakaawa yung nanay o lola, inakap pa yung bata o. Pinoprotektahan. Tapos ganun-ganun na lang, barilin mo pareho (Look at what Nuezca did to those people. I pity the mother or grandmother, she embraced her son. She was protecting her son. Then it happens just like that, or he shoots both of them), Alvarez said.
Nuezca’s shooting of 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio and her son, Frank Anthony, 25, in Paniqui, Tarlac last Sunday afternoon has sparked public outrage, as the brutal act was caught on CCTV and became viral over social media. SOVEREIGNPH
