President Rodrigo Duterte is confident that the Philippines faces
“brighter days” in 2021 due to the Filipino’s resiliency and the country becoming more prepared for the upcoming challenges the year may present.
In his New Year message on Friday, Duterte said: “I am confident that all of us will see brighter days ahead because we believe in the indomitable spirit of the Filipino.”
“Now, we march on to a new year wiser, stronger, and more prepared for the challenges ahead,” he added.
Duterte further said that the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) taught Filipinos many lessons.
“We realized the value of human life and our relationships with each other. We understood what it means to be a family, a community, a nation. We learned to share and to look after the welfare of our brethren,” he said.Among the critical steps taken by the Philippines in the latter part of 2020 is to allocate funds for the purchase of Covid-18 vaccines, or P72.5 billion. Also, the P4.5-trillion 2021 budget for 2021 was enacted and signed on time, avoiding the government operating with reenacted budget this year. SOVEREIGNPH
