Most parts of the country may experience rains on the first day of 2021, the weather bureau said on Friday.
Scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and Kalayaan Islands, and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over southern Quezon, the rest of Mimaropa, Caraga, and the Davao Region are expected due to the tail-end of a frontal system and the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The northeast monsoon will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the rest of Quezon, and isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon
The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, PAGASA forecasts strong winds and rough seas over Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough seas will prevail over the Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. SOVEREIGNPH
