At least 91 percent of Filipinos fear the possibility that their immediate relatives would be infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.

The results of the latest SWS survey released on Thursday showed 77 percent are “worried a great deal” while 14 percent are “somewhat worried” about their immediate relatives being infected with Covid-19.

The remaining 3 percent were worried a little while 5 percent were not worried at all.

The results of the latest SWS survey were much higher compared to the previous similar surveys conducted by last May and September, where 87 percent and 85 percent of Filipinos said they were worried over Covid-19, respectively.

“The November 2020 percentage of those worried about catching Covid-19 surpassed the previous record of 87 percent (73 percent worried a great deal, 14 percent somewhat worried) in May 2020, when SWS first surveyed about it,” SWS said.

“It is six points up from the 85 percent (63 percent worried a great deal, 22 percent somewhat worried) in September 2020,” it added.

The latest SWS survey covered 1,500 adults and was conducted from November 21 to 25. The survey was conducted face-to-face while observing standard health protocols.
The heightened worry over relatives getting Covid-19 was found among all locales and in both sexes, increasing in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, and among males and females. SOVEREIGNPH
