An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hit the northwestern waters off Burgos town in Ilocos Norte on Tuesday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tectonic earthquake’s epicenter was located 86 kilometers northwest of Burgos at a depth of 33 km below the ground, which was recorded at 9:38 p.m.
While no intensities have been report, Phivolcs said that aftershocks could be possible.
Another mild quake followed 9:54 pm 68 kilometers west of Burgos that had a depth of 59 kilometers. However, it was not know if this was an aftershock of the earlier earthquake at 9:38 p.m.
No tsunami warnings and no damage were recorded from both quakes.
The other significant quake on Tuesday was measured at Magnitude 4.3 163 kilometers east of Sarangani, occurring at 6:11 p.m.No significant damage was recorded from the quake. SOVEREIGNPH
