The Quezon City government has identified a total of 143 individuals who have had close contact with a city resident who was tested positive for the new coronavirus disease 2019 variant, also known as the UK variant.
In a Laging Handa online press briefing on Saturday, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the 143 individuals were both “first generation” and “second generation” contacts.
Ito talaga yung mga nakasama talaga ng ating pong pasyente, at yung mga second-generation contacts, ito yung mga contacts ng close contacts (The first-generation were those who were with the patient, and the second generation is made up of those who made contact with the close contacts),” she said.
Belmonte said those who were also contact traced were healthcare workers and the BHERT (Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams) who assisted the patient from the hotel where he was first quarantined. The patient has been transferred to an isolation facility.
The Department of Health on Wednesday confirmed that a 29-year-old male from Kamuning , Quezon City tested positive for the new Covid-19 variant that is said to be up to 70-percent more infectious.
