The Regional Inter-Agency Council (RIATF) of Cagayan Valley has approved the recommendation of local officials to place Tuguegarao City under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for 10 days.
Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the ECQ status will start on Wednesday (January 20, 2021) and will last up to January 29, 2021.
He said the elevation of the quarantine status of the city was prompted by surge of coronarivus disease 2019 (Covid-19) active cases, which now stands at 222.
He also explained that the daily attack rate has already reached 10.4 percent, which, according to the Department of Health, places Tuguegarao at a high risk.
With this, the mayor said public transport will be suspended and back riding onboard motorcycles will no longer be allowed.
However, he said restaurants are allowed to open in 50-percent capacity of its workforce and will only entertain “take-out”, and no dine-in is allowed.
“The public market will be open but with strict compliance of the health protocols and the offices will be at 20-percent workforce capacity,” Soriano said.
He also said construction works will also be allowed at 20-percent capacity and businesses selling construction supplies will also be allowed to open.
Though there will be strict checkpoints, individuals who are going out and coming in the city are allowed only for essential travels.
He also assured distribution of food and some cash assistance to the affected families belonging to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors. SOVEREIGNPH
