DURING the 2016 presidential campaign, a colleague had the gall to take a potshot at Jejomar “Jojo” Binay, whom I happened to support. I took the guts to write: nobody hits Binay without taking a counter-punch from me. This, by way of reminding the readers that I am cut to be so loyal that a friend’s hurt from an attack by someone instantly becomes an ache of my own and so, I must retaliate with expected ferocity.

On February. 9, 2021, Ramon Tulfo wrote in this paper, “Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade’s big mouth.”

For the counter-punch, I leave it as a case for investigative journalism at my end.

But readers have reacted such that for the nonce, I venture into a sea of comments quoted below in their pristine form as a veritable people’s unsolicited tit-for-tat with Tulfo on his issue with the general:

Ramon Tulfo’s puny brain can’t accurately analyze fact from fake news. Tupas’ fake news got you hook line and sinker pea brain Tulfo. Leave General Parlade alone. He does more good for this country than you ever did and you ever will in your mothball smelly lifetime. – Nicole

Mr. Tulfo! General Parlade has done a great service to this country, his comments with those paid tabloid journalists is justified as they are all in cahoots with the left. They are the mouthpiece of the communists and the oligarchs that are hellbent to do what whatever it takes to hold on to their greed of power and money even to the point of ruining this country. So please, stop this nonsense of yours! – Johnny

Mr. Tulfo you are a “bara bara” columnist writer!! – Pancho

I don’t know how this arrogant and malicious trying hard columnist was accepted in the Manila Times. He is facing more than 100 libel cases, the most indicted mediaman in all history of this country. Ipapahamak na naman nya ang Manila Times… – Roldan Guerrero

So far General Paralde has done good against the leftists, that’s the reason he is being crucified. – MaMu TaKu

General Parlade is fine. Tell me who could replace him? Did you ever wonder why hundreds and hundreds of NPAs and cadres across the country are starting to surrender? Exactly. Parlade is one of those reasons. Ever since the ELCAC was established, Parlade has played a big role on its functions and implementation. Human rights na naman ano? Nku dalang dala na ang mga tao dyan! Wala na bang bago? Bakit nung c Ka Eric and nag discuss ng human rights na yan sa Senado eh tvngna wala kayong kibo? Lam nyo tawag dyan — propaganda. – Bennen

Trixie Cruz-Angeles, by the way, it is also not true that General Parlade threatened the reporter. He only answered a question from a netizen who asked if the reporter can be sued. He answered, “For aiding the terrorists by spreading lies? Pwede.” In short his answer is that it is possible. He didn’t even say he was going to do it. Yet if you read the media reports it is all about his “threats” or that he “threatened.” Halata sila. – HenryG

General Parlade did not tag actress Soberana but just advised her to avoid Gabriela as the latter seem trying to recruit the former while Locsin was not also tagged. Only Locsin’s sister was tagged as former NPA member. I can’t remember if Catriona Gray was tagged. Is this columnist a fake news peddler? – Anastacio de Guzman

That’s true, Mon Tulfo is very hard to understand nowadays. Sometimes he is pro-government, sometimes a critic of the same. Nobody is perfect for him except himself…. the general did not tag those personalities but rather were advised to be very careful in associating with the known Reds as in Gabriela…. careful with Mon then, … – Jun Carlos

Mr. Tulfo has axe to grind against PMA and PMAers! Why? He was disavowed as adopted PMA member of class__? Reason? He called the then 1ID Commander who later became the CSAFP as “Gago”! – Adrian de Vera

Note: This column appeared in the Manila Times last February 13, 2021. One thing common about Mau Samonte, Mon Tulfo and Jun Parlade is that they are all regular columnists of the same newspaper.
