Billiards legend Efren “Bata” Reyes was allegedly apprehended for playing a game of pool that violated protocols to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), among these not wearing a facemask.
Several videos circulating over social media show police and local barangay officials confiscating billiards equipment and apprehending Reyes, 66, who was seen playing without a mask.
The police claimed that the pool game Reyes was taking part in was “without a permit” with videos showing he was going up against an unknown player.
Audio in the video indicate Reyes along with the other people in the pool hall were brought to the barangay hall for breaching lockdown protocols.
Also, Reyes is 66 years old and senior citizen, making him part of the group encouraged to stay at home. Regarded as the greatest pool player of all time, Reyes has amassed over 70 international titles. SOVEREIGNPH
