Huang Xilian, Chinese ambassador to Manila and Senator Bong Go  welcome the delivery of the balance of donation by China for Sinovac, at the Manila International Airport.

The completion batch of 400,000 doses out of the 1 million doses pledged as a donation by China was met by Senator Cristopher “Bong” Go and Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian upon its arrival and disembarkation at the Manila International Airport.

The first batch of 600,000 doses was delivered last month.

Senator Go was accompanied by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and National Task Force Against Covid-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon.

Meanwhile Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has laid down the government’s schedule of delivery and deployment of Covid 19 vaccines for the year.

The government is aiming to vaccinate up to 70 million Filipinos by the end of the year, hoping to achieve herd immunity to protect the population against rising coronavirus cases and even faster-spreading strains.

FIRST QUARTER

February 28 – arrival of 600,000 Sinovac doses donated by China

March 1- vaccination drive for medical frontliners kicks off

March 4- arrival of 487,200 AstraZeneca doses donated via COVAX facility

March 7- arrival of 38,400 AstraZeneca doses donated via COVAX facility

March 24 – arrival of 400,000 Sinovac doses donated by China

March 24 to 26 – expected arrival of 979,200 AstraZeneca doses donated via COVAX facility

March 29 – expected arrival of 1 million purchased Sinovac doses

Total vaccine supply by end of March: 3,504,800 total doses

Vaccinated Filipinos as of March 23: 508,332

SECOND QUARTER

Month of April

– expected arrival of 1.5 to 2 million Sinovac doses

– 3 million Sputnik V doses from Russia’s Gamaleya

– 1 million doses via COVAX (AstraZeneca or other brands)

Target number to be vaccinated: 500,000 to 1 million Filipinos per week

Month of May

– 2 million Sinovac doses

– 3 million Sputnik V doses

– 2.6 million AstraZeneca doses

– 1 million doses via COVAX (AstraZeneca or other brands)

– 194,000 doses from United States’ Moderna

Target number to be vaccinated: 1 million to 2 million Filipinos per week

– 4.5 million Sinovac doses

– 4 million Sputnik V doses

– 1 million Novavax doses

Target number to be vaccinated: 2 million to 3 million Filipinos per week

THIRD QUARTER

– 2 million Novavax doses

– 1.5 million Johnson & Johnson doses

As early as January 2021, Implementer National Task Force against Coronavirus Disease-2019 and Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has assured President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during a meeting with the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) the country can handle massive Covid-19 vaccine rollout through the cooperation of the public and the private sectors.
