If we need to extend based on data, then we should extend because we value life,” Domagoso said in an television interview on Wednesday partly in Filipino.

While admitting that the livelihood of many would be affected, Domagoso said, “at the end of the day, the way I look at it, what matters most is life.”

Following the soaring number of coronavirus cases, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the National Capital Region (NCR) and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal under ECQ from March 29 until April 4.

Some groups have been calling for an extension of the ECQ in the hope to prevent a collapse of the healthcare system and to bring down the number of cases, most of which were recorded in the NCR.

Malacañang also said there is a “50-50” chance that the ECQ would be extended beyond April 4.Now, we are still weighing it, life and livelihood should continue or else people will lose the opportunity to earn and they will get hungry,” Domagoso said in Filipino. SOVEREIGNPH
