Former president Joseph “Erap” Estrada’s medical condition has improved, according to one of his sons.
In Facebook post on Friday, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada said his father can possibly be detached from the mechanical ventilator that is aiding his breathing.
“We are happy to report that my father seems to be responding well to treatment as his condition has steadily improved. Doctors are now starting to slowly wean him off ventilator support,” the younger Estrada said.
“His other organ functions remain stable,” Jinggoy said.
The younger Estrada also asked for continued prayers for his father’s recovery.
“Please continue to pray that he recovers completely from this devastating disease and that no new complications set back his progress. Thank you very much for your continued love, support and prayers,” Jinggoy said.
Estrada was moved to an intensive care unit (ICU) on Sunday after getting pneumonia that stemmed from his getting infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Jinggoy then said that is father was transferred to an ICU for “closer observation” but added the former president is in “stable but guarded condition.” Estrada then needed the aid of a ventilator. SOVEREIGNPH
