The Philippines received on Thursday morning 500,000 more doses of government-procured CoronaVac vaccines from China’s Sinovac.
This bring tos 3.5 million the number of doses the Philippines received from Sinovac, which includes 1 million doses donated by the Chinese government.
At around 7:38 a.m., the three boxes containing Sinovac vaccines were unloaded from a plane and immediately placed inside a refrigerated container van and delivered to the Metropac Facility in Marikina City.
Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago Sta. Romana said earlier that more Sinovac will supply more vaccine doses for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to the country.
“For the month of May, the plan is to purchase 1.5 million doses from Sinovac. As for the subsequent months, it will depend on IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) but the plan will involve monthly deliveries for a total of 25 million by the end of the year,” he said,The first batch of procured CoronaVac vaccines arrived last March 29, amounting to one million doses, which was donated by the Chinese government.
