Boracay is now open to tourists from Metro Manila and the four provinces that make up NCR (National Capital Region) Plus.
The local government of Malay in Aklan province, where Boracay is located, said on Tuesday in a Facebook post that residents from
Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal can visit Boracay from June 1 to 15.
The NCR and the four provinces are currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) “with heightened restrictions” until June 15.
“If NCR Plus becomes plain GCQ after June 15, it would be a continuous takeoff. If NCR Plus goes up again to MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine), it may stop leisure movements again,” the Malay Tourism Office said.
It also said that other tourists from areas under GCQ and modified GCQ can also visit Boracay. The government decided to ease restrictions on domestic travel, which will allow residents from NCR Plus to travel to MGCQ areas for tourism visits. However, health protocols and requirements will still be imposed. SOVEREIGNPH
