Majority of hospitals in Metro Manila or the National Capital Region (NCR) are 100-percent full because of a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in NCR.
Department of Health (DOH) data as of June 2 showed that eight of 15 hospitals in NCR are 100-percent filled up because of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the region.
These are: Calalang General Hospital and Valenzuela Citicare Medical Center Timog Hilaga in Valenzuela; E. Zarate Hospital in Las Pinas; F.Y. Manalo Medical Foundation, Metro North Medical Center and Hospital Inc. and Philippine Orthopedic Center in Quezon City; Recuenco General Hospital Inc. in Taguig; and VRP Medical Center in Mandaluyong City.
Last May 19, only five hospitals in Metro Manila had 100-percent occupancy because of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
DOH data dated June 2 also showed that 41.11 percent (1,974 out of 4,814) of isolation beds in NCR are already occupied, and it was 37.55 percent (1,340 out of 3,569) for ward beds also in the same region.The same DOH data showed that 598 out of 1,224, or 48.86 percent, of intensive care units in NCR devoted for Covid-19 patients are being utilized.
