The Cebu City governmnent has launched a probe on the mass gathering at a bar in the city that was filled over its capacity and with patrons not wearing face masks, fearing it could be a super spreader event. Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella said the management of the bar has been issued a show-cause order to explain the incident
The video of the event has made rounds over social media.”I was told they were just outside because it is an open space. When it rained, they were forced to crowd each other to avoid getting wet so the mass gathering violated (health protocols),” the mayor said in a radio interview.
“We will revoke their business permit if found to be guilty,” he added.
Labella said that while cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were on a downtrend in the city, the local government is still “very strict” in border control and making establishments comply limits on capacity.
Cebu City recorded 33 new active Covid-19 cases on Sunday and now has 322 active infections, Department of Health data showed.
“That’s why I’ve been telling people we should not be complacent. The virus is still very much around,” Labella said.
When it comes to vaccination for Covid-19, Cebu City has already inoculated around 60,000 residents. SOVEREIGNPH
