Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso branded as “untimely and premature” feelers from the Liberal Party (LP) for him to be part of a coalition for the opposition.
“Wala muna akong ine-entertain na mga political na bagay (I am not entertaining anything political as for now),” he told reporters in a message thread.
“All talks of coalition or any political talk [are] untimely and premature,” Isko added.
Senator and LP President Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan said that Moreno is one of the personalities the opposition is interested in for the 2022 polls, adding they are reaching out for the “broadest unity possible.”
However, the Manila mayor said he is more focused in serving his constituents especially during with the current coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemc.
“I am focused on vaccinating 1.1 million Manilenos in our 22 centers with the available doses we bought plus what the national govt will give us,” the mayor said.
“Looking forward, hinahanda ko ang Manila para sa ‘bounce back’ na inaasahan nating mangyayari pag naka herd immunity na tayo (I am readying Manila for a ‘bounce back’ that will happen once we achieve herd immunity),” he added.
The Manila mayor is also being considered by the 1Sambayan, another opposition group. SOVEREIGNPH
