President Rodrigo Duterte dared Senator Manny Pacquiao to tell more of worsening corruption in the government, and said that failure to do so would mean the senator is “shit.”
“Do not go anywhere, finish and find out the corruption that you are talking about. If you just report [to work] one or two months, then I would say that you are a shit. A shit is a shit,” Duterte said at the inauguration of the Light Rail Transit 2 extension in Antipolo City, Rizal on Thursday
“Go to work. You asked for that, the documents are there, start investigating. Do not go elsewhere. Comply first with your duty as a senator. Finish that, the papers are there. Do not be an absentee,” he added.
Pacquiao, however, clarified that he is not attacking the President.
“I just want to make it clear: I’m not attacking the President. I only wanted to help in his campaign to curb corruption,” the senator told reporters at the sidelines of the 245th US Independence Day celebration at the US Embassy.
Because of his tirades against the Duterte administration over alleged corruption, senior officials of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has asked Pacquiao to resign as party president and leave the group.
And as to whether Pacquiao can still attend Senate sessions and hearings will be doubtful as he is preparing for his August 21 fight against Errol Spence in the US.
