A total of 63,579 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 21,607 are already fully vaccinated, the agency’s Administrative Support for Covid-19 Task Force (ASCOTF) reported.
Those who have received two doses as of Monday were 424 from the National Headquarters; 1,819 from the National Administration Support Units; 1,519 from the National Operations Support Unit; and 17,845 cops from Police Regional Offices, according to PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz.
The PNP has 218,442 cops nationwide.
As of Monday, there are still 1,309 active cases in the PNP out of a total 29,354 confirmed infections.
Forty-four recoveries brought the total number to 27,967 while the death toll is at 78.
PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar also ordered the ASCOTF to prepare for worst-case scenarios following the confirmation of cases of the Delta variant.
He specifically tasked Cruz to prepare all medical equipment and supplies for policemen.
“I ordered that to ensure the safety of all policemen deployed on the frontlines, their needs should be met,” he said in Filipino via video on Facebook.
Lt. Gen. Bong Dickson, the Joint Task Force Covid Shield commander, was likewise assigned to intensify engagement with local government units in implementing guidelines and to protect communities from the more contagious strain.
