MajGen Henry  Robinson Jr to Masbate, with 903rd Brigade Commander Col Aldwine Almase (leftmost) and key members of the Regional Task Force ELCAC.

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur- Presidential Communications Coordination Office (PCOO) Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy, flew to Masbate City to personally evaluate the escalation of murders of civilians by the communist terrorists.

Her dialogue with the families of Kieth and Nolven Absalon who were killed last June 6 and the wives and families of Jose, Joey and Jestoni Lalaguna, street vendors slain August 14, was very emotional.

Badoy’s answer was resolute, “What we are dealing here are monsters. But I am really happy to tell you that under the watch of our President, this reign of terror is about to end and we can see it already, we can already see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

In an ensuing press conference in Masbate City, USec. Badoy, who is also the head convenor of the Strategic Management Cluster of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), said that these atrocities have however fanned the hate of the local communities against the communist terrorists and have resulted in many leads to law enforcers, provided by ordinary citizens in the hopt pursuit of the insurgents.

Accompanying her in the series of activities in the province were MGen Henry  Robinson Jr PA, commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) Bicolandia; Col. Aldwine Almase, Brigade commander of 903rd Infantry Brigade; Lt. Col. Siegfried Felipe Awichen, Battalion commander of 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB); and PCol. Rodolfo Castil Jr, deputy regional director for Operations (DRDO) of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5).

The group is also set to distribute food packs to the beneficiaries of the Barangay Development Program (BDP) in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in the province of Masbate.

In his response, MajGen Robinson called her visit as a manifestation of the national government’s sincerity to reach out to the people whose lives are affected by communist terrorism.

Col. Aldwine Almase, brigade commander of 903rd Infantry (Patriot) Brigade, said that the massive and continuing gains of government forces reflect the crumbling leadership of the CTGs.

(SPH/AQPaglinawan)
