The Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) has expressed support for the presidential bid of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2022 national polls.
Atty. Larry Gadon of the KBL organized an event at Binangonan, Rizal where the party also proclaimed Marcos as its presidential candidate for 2022. It was attended by some 200 KBL members and Marcos loyalists.
Marcos, in a video message, thanked the KBL for their support but did not disclose his final plans for 2022.
The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) earlier endorsed Marcos as its president bet for 2022.
The KBL was formed in 1978 as an umbrella organization for the organizations supporting the late president Ferdinand Marcos. On the other hand, the PFP was accredited by the Commission on Elections on October 5, 2018, and champions the ideology of federalists Pedro Paterno and Trinidad.
Early this month, Marcos said he was open to running for president.
“So, yes. I think that is a common sentiment that I really… that many of our supporters definitely want me to run for the presidency,” he said in a virtual forum.
“And that’s the reason why I’m even considering it because the support is already there,” Marcos said partly in Filipino.
Local officials, particularly governors, are backing the presidential bid of Marcos in 2022.
