Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte can still end up as the standard bearer of the ruling PDP-Laban for the 2022 polls, according to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, the party president.
President Rodrigo Duterte said on Saturday that Sara Duterte will pair with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for the 2022 polls.
However, Sara Duterte has yet to make a formal declaration that she is running for president in 202.
”It is a possibility. The President said that right after Senator Bong Go filed his candidacy, saying Sara-Bong Go,” Cusi said in a television interview.
But I think when the President said that, he was enticing Mayor Sara to throw her hat in the national presidency… I don’t know what will happen,” he added.
Sara Duterte has already filed her candidacy for reelection as Davao City mayor for a third term.
Go, on the other hand, has accepted the challenge to run for vice president in 2022 so he can help continue the programs of President Duterte.
Duterte withdrew his nomination as the vice-presidential candidate of the ruling party, and said he will retire from public service when his term ends in June 2022.
Go was previously proclaimed as PDP-Laban’s top candidate but he rejected the nomination.
