The spokesperson of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte made it clear anew on Monday that the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte will not run for president in the May 2022 polls.
Sara Duterte’s spokesperson, Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco, was reacting to PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi saying that the Davao City mayor can still become the presidential bet of the party.
”Mayor Sara Duterte has already filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor. Not being a member of PDP-Laban, she is not privy to the party’s sudden change of plans,” Frasco said in a text message to a national daily.
“Mayor Sara has no intention of becoming a member of PDP or of being its standard bearer now or in the near future,” she added.
Cusi said in a television interview that there was still a “possibility” that Sara Duterte would run for president in 2022 under the PDP-Laban.
”It is a possibility. The President said that right after Senator Bong Go filed his candidacy, saying Sara-Bong Go,” Cusi said in a television interview.
But I think when the President said that, he was enticing Mayor Sara to throw her hat in the national presidency… I don’t know what will happen,” he added.
