This came about after the mayor filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection in this city over the weekend.

The Inday Sara Duterte Ako (ISDA) said they respect her decision to run for mayor anew and they will rally behind her.

However, due to the recent turnout of political events, and with the presidentiables who have so far filed their respective certificates of candidacy, ISDA said they are left with no choice but to join the call for Sara Duterte to run in 2022 presidential polls.

“We believe Mayor Inday is the best bet our countrymen could ever choose,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Sara All Philippines 2022 also conveyed their message that they are not giving up on Mayor Duterte until she gives her nod and takes on the challenge.

“We are not giving up. We are not losing hope. We were buoyed up by the fact that President Rodrigo Duterte did not pursue plans to run for Vice President thereby paving the way for just one Duterte to run for national office,” the group statement said.

The group added that the deadline for the filing of COCs is still three days away, on October 8, and they are hopeful that before then, Mayor Duterte will answer the call of duty and the clamor of the people for her to run.

“Switching her COC is still possible, to withdraw her COC for Mayor filed in Davao City and submit another one, this time a COC for President in Manila. For as long as this opening is there, we shall not give up. The light of hope has not fully died down,” the group said.

On October 2, Mayor Duterte broke the hearts of her supporters as she filed her COC for mayor at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office here.

It is her third consecutive and final term as local chief executive in the city.

In a Facebook post right after her filing, Duterte thanked her supporters for their trust and confidence in her.

“I have been honored with the gift of trust and respect of many of our fellow Filipinos. Thank you to everyone who has expressed their support. Many of you do not know me and yet you carry me over your shoulders,” she said.

Duterte has called on everyone to work together for honest, orderly, and credible elections in May 2022.“Like the other millions of Filipinos, I share with you the same goal of living a peaceful and prosperous life in our country, today and in the many years to come,’ she said.
