A former member of the Liberal Party (LP) on Tuesday scored Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s lack of leadership, which also prompted him to bolt the LP and join the Aksyon Demokratiko led by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.“I think it’s a leadership problem at the LP and I was right. Even if Vice President Leni will run (in 2022), he did not run under the Liberal Party,” said Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice in a television interview in Filipino.
“I think it’s a leadership problem at the LP and I was right. Even if Vice President Leni will run (in 2022), he did not run under the Liberal Party,” added Erice, who has been with the LP for 18 years, in Filipino.
Erice left the LP last September 15 and eventually joined Aksyon Demokratiko.
“When I left LP, many party members contacted me and joined Aksyon Demokratiko with those in the Visayas also joining,” he said.
Robredo made her decision to run for president last October 8 or the last day for the filing of candidacies at the Commission on Elections. But instead of running under LP, she opted to run under the 1Sambayan coalition that endorsed her weeks before as their presidential candidate in 2022.
She earlier tried to form a unified front for the opposition but the three presidential aspirants she or her camp talked with – including Domagoso – opted to pursue their own run for 2022.
