New recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) reached 6,887 on Saturday, raising the tally to 2.693 million or 96.7 percent of the overall case count, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
On the other hand, a lesser number of new cases or 4,008 was logged on Saturday, pushing the number of active cases to 47,690, at least 74.4 percent of whom have mild symptoms, 5.1 percent asymptomatic, 2.7 percent critical, 6.5 percent severe, and 11.27 percent moderate.
The DOH said 423 more patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 43,044.
To date, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Philippines since the pandemic started in March last year are 2.784 million, of which 1.55 percent have died while 1.7 percent are undergoing treatment.
The positivity rate is pegged at 7.8 percent based on the 50,776 individuals tested on October 28.
In its Saturday reminder, the DOH asked anew the public to follow minimum public health standards to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.
Nationwide, 49 percent of the 4,100 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 36 percent of the 20,800 isolation beds, and 33 percent of the 14,600 ward beds for Covid-19 patients are occupied.
In Metro Manila, in use are about 42 percent of the 1,400 ICU beds, 30 percent of the 4,900 isolation beds, and 30 percent of the 4,100 ward beds.
