The political party headed by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. adopted on Saturday Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its vice presidential candidate for 2022.
In a resolution dated November 13, 2021, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas endorsed Sara Duterte as the running mate of Marcos in the 2022 polls.
Sara Duterte also filed on Saturday her candidacy for vice president at the Commission on Elections. She will be running under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD).
Sara Duterte thus substitutes Lakas-CMD’s Lyle Uy as the party’s vice presidential bet for 2022.
The development came days after Duterte abandoned her bid for a second term as Davao City Mayor and her joining the Lakas-CMD headed by House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez.
He earlier said Sara Duterte and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. were discussing on “working together” for the 2022 polls.
Sara Duterte’s move on Saturday finally ended all speculations on what position she will be seeking in 2022, as her supporters were clamoring for her to run for president.
However, there were also speculations that Sara Duterte will eventually become the running mate of Marcos for 2022.
