The Philippine Consulate in New York City said on Saturday that it was deeply honored that a Filipino who is an official in the US Air Force was Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Veterans Day event it hosted on Thursday to pay tribute to the men and women in uniform of both the Philippines and the United States.
“As Undersecretary of the Air Force, Gina Ortiz Jones is the highest ranking Filipino-American in the Biden Administration. Undersecretary Jones served as an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force whose previous assignments included Iraq and Libya,” a Facebook post by Elmer Gato of the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
Ortiz-Jones is based in San Antonio, Texas is from Pangasinan and graduated fromthe University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
It was last July that the Senate on Thursday Ortiz-Jones to be the next undersecretary of the US Air Force, making her the first woman of color to become the undersecretary of any military branch in the United States.
