Thousands of supporters for the tandem of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte converged in the Commonwealth, Elliptical Road and Quezon Avenue areas in Quezon City to show support for the “BBM-Sara UniTeam.”

Videos of their caravan attracting droves of supporters were uploaded in various social media platforms, but causing traffic in the said areas to come to a standstill.

Marcos apologized for the traffic caused by their caravan.

“BBM-Sara UniTeam apologizes to motorists, travelers, the city government, and even the MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) if the Unity Caravan caused traffic congestion,” Marcos’ camp said in a statement in Filipino.

Before the caravan, the Quezon City local government advised motorists to use other routes.

“Due to the ongoing political motorcade along Commonwealth Avenue, Elliptical Road, and Quezon Avenue, all motorists bound for the said major thoroughfares are advised to take alternate routes,” the city government said.

“For those already on these roads, please take the nearest available road or U-Turn slot to exit and avoid the heavy traffic congestion,” it added.

Marcos and Duterte were onboard a small truck as their caravan traversed Commonwealth Avenue, Elliptical Road and Quezon Avenue.

No crowd estimate was given by other media outlets but videos uploaded by netizens showed this could easily run into the thousands who were on foot, or onboard motorcycles and vehicles.
