As of the evening of Sunday, the hashtag #LeniDuwag was among the top 5 trending over Twitter in the Philippines. Meanwhile, that hashtag along with #Robreduwag also became trending over Facebook from Sunday night.

In a Facebook post, one of the hosts of the live interview, The Manila Times and sovereign.ph columnist Antonio Contreras said the live interview of the presidential candidates will push through with co-hosts Deo Macalma, Anthony Baja and Angelo Palmones all of DZRH.

Among the presidential candidates invited, Contreras said Robredo declined while Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has yet to confirm his attendance.

Despite getting ganged up or bashed over social media, Contreras said the public must respect the decision of Robredo.

“We are in a pluralist democracy, where no one has a monopoly of the venues for legitimate political discourse,” Contreras said.

“I urge people to desist from passing judgement on Mrs. Robredo, and just learn to respect her choice,” he added.

Contreras said the “Bakit Ikaw” of DZRH and The Manila Times will subject presidential candidates to a 2.5-hour interview with former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. scheduled on January 25 or Tuesday, 4 pm to 6:30 pm.

To follow are labor leader Leody De Guzman on January 26 (Wednesday); Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on January 27 (Thursday); and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao on January 28 (Friday).

“These candidates were the ones who confirmed and accepted the invitation extended to them. Isko Moreno has yet to confirm. Leni Robredo declined,” Contreras said

Robredo getting ganged up or bashed over social media for her declining the invitation to Bakit Ikaw was preceded by the vice president’s supporters calling Marcos a coward for his declining to guest in an interview for presidential candidates over GMA Network hosted by Jessica Soho.

Marcos’ camp said he declined to guest over Soho’s program since she is biased against the Marcos family.
