The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday recorded 5,652 new recoveries from Covid-19 and 3,788 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 91,147.
Of the active cases, 3,261 are asymptomatic, 83,145 are mild, 2,986 are moderate, 1,443 are severe, and 312 are critical.
A total of 72 new fatalities, on the other hand, pushed the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 54,854.
The Philippines has so far recorded 3.485 million recoveries out of 3.63 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic started in 2020.
The positivity rate is at 14.7 percent, based on the 32,795 individuals tested on February 9.
In a media briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the country continues to see a “steady decline” in new cases.
Except for Soccsksargen, all regions are at a low to moderate risk while national health systems capacity remains at low risk, Vergeire said.
Nationwide, at least 34 percent of the 4,300 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are occupied, along with 33 percent of the 20,300 isolation beds and 30 percent of the 15,300 ward beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
In Metro Manila, 24 percent of 1,700 ICU beds are filled, along with 29 percent of 4,200 isolation beds and 4,200 ward beds.
In the same presser, Vergeire said the government continues to prepare for the eventual shift of some areas to Alert Level 1, which she equates with the “new normal” set-up.
“We are preparing for our transition into this new normal. Let us just wait. In the meantime, we go on closely monitoring all areas,” she said in Filipino.
