The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) wing led by its president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi will formally endorse former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, also known as BBM, as its presidential bet for the May 9 polls.
This is contained in PDP-Laban In Resolution No. 26, Series of 2022 of its National Executive Committee, which states that Marcos “is the candidate whose platform is most aligned with the development program of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte” and that he “received the most endorsements from several local councils of PDP Laban.”
“(Marcos) is the candidate whose vision of governance is most aligned with PDP Laban’s 11-point agenda,” the Cusi-led wing of the party said.
Months back, the same group within PDP-Laban endorsed Marcos’ running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its official vice presidential candidate.
“Whereas, to promote “Unity for Sustainability” of socio-economic development and national progress… Resolved, as it is hereby resolved, after careful and exhaustive deliberations the National Executive Committee endorses the candidacy of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for President of the Republic of the Philippines in the forthcoming 2022 National Elections,” the resolution concluded.
The other faction within PDP-Laban is led by presidential aspirant and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao and Aquilino “Coco” Pimentel 3rd.
To recall, Pacquiao went on a verbal tirade against President Rodrigo Duterte last year, alleging rampant corruption within his administration that Pacquiao has never proven. That worsened the rift within PDP-Laban that led to the ouster of Pacquiao as its president and Cusi becoming its new president.
