The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has distributed P703 million under the fuel subsidy program funded through the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
A total of 108,164 beneficiaries each received P6,500, according to a statement on Tuesday.
“The said fuel subsidy was distributed starting March 15. 2022. According to operators and drivers, the program is a big help because of the continued rise of fuel prices,” the LTFRB said in a statement.
Beneficiaries were reminded that the cash they received may be used to purchase fuel only.
“LTFRB continues to process the fuel subsidy in coordination with Land Bank of the Philippines to speed up the process of the entire program,” the LTFRB said.
Earlier, the LTFRB denied a petition by several transport groups for a P1 provisional fare hike for public utility jeepneys.
The decision was separate from the P14 to P15 minimum fare petition of transport groups.
