IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – A Memorandum of Cooperation was forged last March 17, 2022 between the Zamboanga Sibugay provincial government and Renewstable Power Development to pursue energy generation.
Mindanao Development Authority Chairperson Sec. Maria Belen Sunga Acosta, said that the Hydrogen de France project goes beyond energy supply, but also is epected to serve catalytic investment to strengthen economic activities and partnerships in the island as it recovers from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Atty. Wilter Yap Palma said that the development of renewable energy in the Olutanga Island will assist in the economic revolution not only of the Olutanga-Talusan-Mabuhay (OLTAMA) municipalities in the island, but also of the whole province.
Olutanga Island used to be a pirates’ lair in the province.
“I hope that through these partnerships and joint projects, we are able to better tap the economic drivers of this beautiful island. Let us continue working together to seize the opportunities and business prospects in Mindanao,” Acosta stressed.
The activity was organized by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Olutanga-Talusan-Mabuhay (OLTAMA) Alliance, Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative (ZAMURECO) – II, and Hydrogen de France (HDF) Energy.

Speaking in the vernacular, Go added, “Talagang ginawa ng ating Pangulo ang lahat para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga anak. Tinupad niya ang kanyang pangako at nagresulta ito sa magandang business climate, if not for this pandemic.”
“I see in Duterte a decisive leader who has political will. Now the local governments in Mindanao can reaping the goodwill the President has been generating,” the senator said.
For his part the Senator Go pledged to continue monitoring developments pertaining to this project, and push parallel programs and legislations that will contribute to the quick recovery of our economy hoping to replicate the opportunity in other areas.
